Twelve year old Veysel, half Kurdish half Turkish, is new in a foreign country. At school he does not understand the language, at home he suffers from the depressing atmosphere in a conflict ridden family. His only happy moments are when he is thinking of Ana, a girl from his class, who he is desperately in love with. Veysel is on the brink of being crushed by his conflicting dreams and reality. Then he gets to know his neighbour, a 37 year old macho, himself a victim of lovesickness, who becomes his first friend in this foreign land.
